Patients’ rights

Patient has the right to receive professional medical services provided by qualified personnel.

Patient has the right to know the name of the physician and other medical staff who are involved in the treatment process. He/she has the right to privacy and the opportunity to meet daily with family or friends. This right may be restricted only for serious reasons.

Patient has the right to obtain necessary information from his/her physician before starting new diagnostic or therapeutic procedure to decide whether to accept or refuse it. Except for special cases patient should be properly informed of any risks associated with these procedures. If there are several alternatives and patient needs information on alternative treatment, he/she has the right to read them through first.

Within the limits established by law patient has the right to refuse treatment and the right to get informed about the medical consequences of such a decision. During outpatient and inpatient treatment, examination and diagnosis, patient has the right to ensure that his/her personal life has been shown maximum respect. Medical history analysis, consultation, examination and treatment are confidential matters and must be conducted in a delicate manner. The presence of persons who are not directly involved in the treatment should be agreed with the patient.

Patient has the right to expect that all records and statements of treatment are confidential. The protection of patient information should also be ensured in the computer processing of data.

Patient has the right to expect that the medical institution will satisfy his/her request for treatment according to the available capabilities to the extent corresponding to the nature of the disease. If necessary, patient may be transferred to another medical facility after he/she has been provided with reasonable information on the need for this transfer, as well as other existing alternatives. The institution to which the patient will get transferred must first approve the transfer.

Patient has the right to expect that the treatment will be carried out on a continuous basis. Patient has the right to know in advance what specialists, where and during what working hours it can be available for visiting. After release from the clinic patient has the right to expect that the attending physician will provide information about further treatment.

Patient has the right to receive a reasonable explanation if the attending physician decides to use non-standard procedures or conduct an experiment. Written informed consent of the patient is a prerequisite to start therapeutic and non-therapeutic procedures. Without giving any reason patient may refuse to participate in the experiment any time, if he/she has been informed about the possible health consequences of such a decision.

Patient with an incurable disease has the right to get sensitive care from all health workers, who must respect his/her wishes, if they do not conflict with the current legislation. Patient has the right and is obliged to know and follow the rules of the medical institution where he/she is going through treatment. Patient has the right to check his/her account and ask for an explanation of some items, regardless of who pays the bill.


  1. When receiving medical services patient should:

(a) adhere to the individual treatment plan developed, if he/she has agreed to the provision of these medical services,

  1. b) comply with the internal regulations of the Clinic,
  2. c) pay the cost of the provided medical services,
  3. d) provide true information to the medical service staff on the current health state including information about infectious and transmissible diseases, medical services provided by other doctors, use of drugs, including abuse of addictive substances, and other essential facts for the provision of medical services,
  4. e) not drink alcohol during hospitalization or other addictive substances and, at the request of the attending physician, undergo an analysis to determine whether the patient is under the influence of alcohol or other addictive substances.
  5. Obligations to comply with paragraphs (c) and (d) shall be fulfilled by the patient's legal representative. The legal representative of the patient is responsible to create conditions for the fulfillment of obligations by the patient.
  6. Patient, patient's legal representative, person appointed by the patient, person close to the patient or patient's relative must submit ID at the request of the medical staff. The obligation to submit ID also applies to a person who is entitled to information on patient's health under the present or another law. In terms of foreigners, it is necessary to submit a travel document or another ID for identification. If the medical worker has doubts whether the person is close, the foreigner must write an application, specifying his/her personal and contact details and sign it in the presence of a Clinic employee, which will be a part of the medical documentation.

4. If patient or his/her legal representative refuses to provide an identity document, the medical worker may refuse to provide medical services to the patient if the patient is not in need of emergency medical assistance. If the person referred to in paragraph 3 refuses to provide ID, the medical worker may refuse to provide the requested information. This condition is not valid if patient confirms the identity of the person.
